PostPosted: Tue Jul 25, 2006 10:12 pm    Post subject: Luke the Physician-Historian Reply with quote

Although this posting does not concerning any exegetical question or concern, I would like to comment briefly on Luke-Acts. According to Sir William Gladstone, Prime Minister to Queen Victoria, Luke's Gospel was "the most beautiful book ever written." And according to Sir William Ramsay, British apologist and archaeologist, Luke, "the beloved physician," was "the greatest historian of the ancient world." So the Greeks and the Romans may have written "histories," but Dr. Luke's two tomes, Luke-Acts, surpass them all in terms of beauty and accuracy, sublimity of topic and truthfulness of account.
